What is Neurotology?

Neurotology, sometimes called Otoneurology, is an area of Otorhinolaryngology that studies the body balance and hearing. It involves, in addition to general otorhinolaryngology, manifestations related to systemic diseases, including those of the central nervous system.

Diseases, signs and associated symptoms

The main signs and symptoms of patients with neurotological diseases are: dizziness, imbalance, vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus and nystagmus (involuntary eye movements).

Several diseases may be associated to these signs and symptoms, being important the evaluation by a Neurotologist specialist.
